(12,187 posts)They rarely speak to things that affect the day-to-day life of Americans--healthcare, jobs, paychecks. When they do? They lie and spread disinformation as in: these are the worst jobless reports in 40 years.
Complete fabrication.
But for those who do not investigate, research the comments? The 'alternate facts' are swallowed whole.
We criticize the Russian population for feeding off Putin's propaganda. But there's a good 30-40% of Americans who do the same thing because the lies confirm their own biases which are continuously amplified through right-wing channels.
Even President Obama admitted he underestimated the effects of the Republican disinformation campaign.
It's real and it's extraordinarily damaging to our body politic and social fabric.
