In reply to the discussion: CBS News Boss: We Need to Hire Republicans Because GOP's 'Going to Take Over' [View all]Jedi Guy
(3,389 posts)CBS projecting that the GOP will take control of one, if not both, houses of Congress shouldn't be shocking. Pundits have been making that exact prediction for quite some time now, and historically the President's party loses seats in midterm elections, particularly in his first term. Given the thin margins in both houses, it's reasonable to conclude that both are in play for the GOP.
Nor should it be shocking that they're hiring a commentator to give them a window into the inner workings of that party. Like I said, though, they certainly could have made a better choice than Mulvaney. CBS is making a move that they believe will benefit their journalism and, since news is a business like anything else, their bottom line.
As for their supposed corruption, different media bias analyses show CBS to be center-left, depending on which one you're looking at. I don't know of any that show them having a bias towards the right, but if you can find one, I'd certainly take a look at it. So if they are indeed corrupt, they're corrupt in our favor.
Tell me true: if this same exact event took place but with the parties reversed and they'd selected Denis McDonough for the same reasons, do you think anyone here on DU would be all worked up about it? If you can say "yes" to that question while maintaining a straight face, Hollywood is where you should be. DU would be lauding the choice, if it were discussed at all.
As for my true colors, yes, I revealed myself as someone who considers the facts and engages in reasoned analysis of same. How awful...
