(11,767 posts)Remember that we used to have lynching where people would take the family and have a picnic, and pose near the body of the person they lynched.
In the South, when a Black person was killed, no jury would ever convict. The fact that actual police officers are at least getting convicted is progress.
I think we see it as "worse" because during the late 70's through when Trump was elected, explicit racism had been repressed. As you have said, Trump (but really it was the election of President Obama) brought the overt stuff back out into the open.
One thing you can always count on is Conservatives will overreach.
This is why it is important to fight back against those idiots attacking CRT and the 1619 project. They are loud right now but they are not invincible.
