3. My hair stylist noticed something on my scalp and made me check it out.

Thankfully, it was nothing. When I told the dermatologist that my stylist made me come in, the doctor said she was so grateful for beauticians, barbers, and masseuses who send people in for a look. She catches a lot of skin cancer that way. Plus, since I had to make an appointment anyway, I had the dermatologist do a comprehensive skin screening while I was there. Doc told me I should have a skin check every two years. I'm not fair-complected (complexioned?) but I did have some bad sunburns as a child, so I was a little worried.
