To those who've decided to rant about people refusing Congressional subpoenas... [View all]

...and demanding that the Committee do something TODAY!!! RIGHT NOW!!!

Sorry to tell you that's not how it works.

First, understand that this is a CONGRESSIONAL subpoena, not a JUDICIAL subpoena. Refusal to respond to a Congressional subpoena is not grounds to indict someone in Court. The Congress can request the DOJ to administer the subpoena or attempt to do so itself.

Second, NOBODY has ignored the subpoena, because they don't have to...yet. When you receive a subpoena, you are not obliged to drop everything and catch the next plane to Washington. You are give a window of time. SAYING you'll defy the subpoena is irrelevant until you actually do. In the case of Steve Bannon, he is compelled to come before the Committee for a deposition on the 14th or 15th. If he refuses, only then will he be in contempt.

The Congressional process is similar to the criminal justice process. It proceeds on its own schedule. It doesn't rush simply because everyone "knows they're guilty".
