In the 99% affluent white town where I grew up harassing black and brown people seemed to be part of the police job description.

That was just one of the reasons the town was 99% white.

My parents were there for the work. When my dad retired they left. All my siblings left.

I haven't lived in a majority white place for most of my adult life.
