13. The Texas Republicans are taking a page from the East Germans

The "Real Existing Socialism" set up a large network of "Inoffizielle Mitarbeiter," or "unofficial collaborators," whose job it was to spy on, and report on people they were close to, whether work-related, or family members, or just close friends designated by the Staatssicherheit (Secret Police) as worth keeping an eye on. Always willing to learn from Stalin, the Republican Party has worked out a system similar to the East German methods for monitoring, and, if necessary, terrorizing citizens who don't fall into line of their own free will.
