Wasn't this the last phase of Vietnam? Keep a light footprint of spec-ops and advisors after our troops left in '74 and get overwhelmed and over-run a year later -the real "Fall of Saigon".

It's a horrible idea. Even if there are rights issues after we leave.
We "won" the war in 2005. We lost the peace as soon as we propped up Karzai and ignored the provences and warlords, and we have been supporting a corpse since 2011.

Time to leave. Doing the same thing over and expecting different results is madness.
