Yes, there are "educated idiots," way too many of them ... but what they are lacking is not exactly intelligence. It's not even always the same thing. For some it's clearly false premises (alternative facts) that make them irrational. For others it's clearly empathy - they can see very clearly what needs to be done to maximize their own wealth and welfare and pursue that very cleverly and to hell with anyone else. With still others, it could be something as simple as attention span. You do not get admitted to Stanford or Harvard or Yale or Princeton without having at least academic intelligence. The problem is, academic intelligence isn't enough.
