First Ron Johnson is an idiot, but this did come up in one of his hearings.
Second, Although not a "magic cure", Ivermectin does seem to have some benefit as a treatment. It does have ANTIVIRAL properties in addition to its wide use as a parasite treatment in both humans and animals. The NIH.gov website shows a reduction in deaths in sever cases but it has not been updated since August.
https://www.covid19treatmentguidelines.nih.gov/antiviral-therapy/ivermectin/

There are currently several studies on Ivermectin treatment going on with the WHO and NIH. clinicaltrials.gov seems to list several.

There are several papers on the use of Ivermectin in many countries including Turkey, India, Pakistan, and Australia. It does seem to have positive effects, and has a very good safety record.

Here is an article about this from what seems to be a not kooky Dr in Australia. https://www.bloomberg.com/press-releases/2020-08-19/ivermectin-triple-therapy-protocol-for-covid-19-to-australian-gp

I again hope we can follow the science, good or bad on this.
