But it helped a very nice man out of a jam. It wasn't his fault that I was let go.

Most people learn to treat others with respect. Some of the most respectful are those with the least. Contrast that with so many who have power. On the other hand after this election maybe I should say many and not most. The weird thing is that so many of the people who support him are also kind and caring individuals in most other aspects of their lives. I can't understand it.

I am glad your sons had such a good experience with a manager early in their working lives. I have been fortunate in that regard - having mostly good managers in my career. Also says something about your sons' character to step up when someone was in need.
