from one of the Major Retailers Store Manager was,the Auto Restock System went down because of the volume of panic sales. Many items went to Discontinued status because of the scanned sales numbers were way out of the presets in their reorder system.

And the Warehouse to Store Schedule is set for Maximum use of order selectors as well as Loaders and Delivery Drivers. It just takes time to clean up the back log orders as well as deliveries . You can put everyone one mandatory overtime and overlap your shift schedules just so much before the system comes to a screaming halt. And overlapping Receiving and Shipping works for only a few hours then the Congestion stops everything in it's tracks.

Again,you can throw only so many bodies at that problem before thinks go straight to heck and back.
