8. I remember hearing something similar once about small pox.

There was a guy on CBC radio, I don’t know if he was an author or what he was, and it was like probably at least 10 years ago now and he was talking about how at the height of the smallpox outbreak a lot of doctors said that they could tell if a patient has smallpox before they started exhibiting symptoms by a certain look they had in their eyes. And these doctors really couldn’t elaborate on it except to just explain that it was like a far off distant look with anxiety and panic even if the person wasn’t showing signs of anxiety and panic.
