Trying to delete emails, even if it's from your OWN server, as a way to try to hide them ... is a fools errand. Every email has a sender and (at least one) recipient, which means at a MINIMUM every email you receive or send ... exists on at least ONE server which is NOT yours (I mean, unless you're like Google themselves, in control of both the sender and recipients email server ... and even then, either side could have set their email client to download every email, thus limiting your ability to 'clean up' conversations).

Almost certainly, the Senate committee is well-aware of this fact, and the Majority could absolutely subpoena the 'missing' emails from Google. But, conveniently for Patten ... as we know ...
