Pete Buttigieg took a brief leave when his son was in the ICU and Republicans still attack him for it to this day. But Duffy goes on an extended vacation to shoot a reality show while there are all sorts of pressing problems with air travel and Fox News thinks it's awesome. Beyond parody.

O.M.G., a fucking reality show.

Trump's plan to paint the Eisenhower office building could cost at least $7.5M, the White House says

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump’s proposal to put a coat of white paint on the exterior of a 19th-century historic landmark building next to the White House could cost taxpayers at least $7.5 million, a White House official involved in the project said Thursday.

Ryan Erb, the construction operations and facilities manager in the White House Office of Administration, which is spearheading the proposal, discussed details with members of the National Capital Planning Commission as the federal agency opened its review process.

The commission did not approve the project on Thursday, instead directing the White House to provide the agency with additional information at a future date.

The proposed painting of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building is one piece of a broader plan the Republican president has said will make Washington more beautiful.

Here’s Trump’s next project: putting a coat of white paint on the exterior of a 19th-century historic landmark next to the White House at a cost of at least .5 million to taxpayers. He claims it’ll “blend in better” with the White House.

Kash Patel ordered polygraphs of more than two dozen members of his team, sources tell MS NOW

Source: MS Now

FBI director Kash Patel has ordered the polygraphing of more than two dozen former and current members of his security detail and other staff and has been described as in panic mode to save his job and find leakers among his team, according to two people briefed on the development.

Patel has walled himself off from some senior bureau leaders this week in the wake of multiple media reports that raised red flags about his leadership, according to three people familiar with his recent actions. Two of the people told MS NOW that the director ordered the polygraphing this week of the former and current security detail members, as well as several information technology staff.

The director also has avoided meeting this week with some key operational leaders of the bureau, the people said, raising concern inside the FBI about Patel’s ability to stay abreast of pressing threats and investigations in order to make the best decisions.

FBI spokesman Ben Williamson declined to comment on whether Patel has ordered polygraphs. He disputed claims that the director was walled off from his senior staff, saying Patel has regularly met with operational leaders including his two deputy directors, assistant directors and an intelligence briefing team.

Undeterred by polls and courts, Trump honors ballroom donors at White House

Source: WaPo

The White House hosted a reception Wednesday night for the organization that manages donations to President Donald Trump’s ballroom, highlighting the president’s unceasing drive for a legally embattled project that polls show is broadly unpopular.

Amid a war with Iran, surging gas prices and backlash to his immigration policies, Trump dedicates extensive time to the ballroom. He made calls for a new ballroom a key focus of his remarks following the shooting at the White House correspondents’ dinner last month, arguing that it was needed for security.

A division president from Clark Construction, one of the largest construction firms in the region, now works most days out of a trailer on the White House grounds as a high-stakes site manager. Some evenings the president calls him into the Oval Office to go over details for more than an hour at a time, he recounted to an associate.

Out of hundreds of lawsuits and appeals involving the administration, the challenge to the ballroom is the only one where the president has personally dictated multiple legal filings.

A federal judge has released a suicide note purportedly written by Jeffrey Epstein that was sealed for years as part of the criminal case of his cellmate.

“They investigated me for months — FOUND NOTHING!!!” the note begins, adding that the result were charges going back many years.

“It is a treat to be able to choose one’s time to say goodbye,” the note continued.

“Watcha want me to do — Bust out cryin!!” the note reads.

THE FBI DIRECTOR'S UNUSUAL CALLING CARD: "Ka$h Patel" bourbon is his newest innovation.

One of J. Edgar Hoover’s greatest reforms at the FBI was his embrace of fingerprinting. During the 1930s, visitors to the FBI offices in Washington, D.C., received souvenir fingerprint cards featuring his name. The men who succeeded him as FBI director were more discreet and judicious, mindful of the cult of personality that had developed around Hoover. They generally avoided giving out branded swag.

But then came Kash Patel.

President Trump’s FBI director has a great deal of affection for swag. Merchandise for sale on a website he co-founded—still operating, nearly 15 months into his term—includes beanies ($35), T-shirts ($35), orange camo hoodies ($65), trucker caps ($25), “government gangsters” playing cards (on sale for $10), and a Fight With Kash Punisher scarf ($25).

One thing not for sale is liquor, because liquor is something Patel gives away for free.

Last month, I reported that FBI personnel were alarmed by what they said was erratic behavior and excessive drinking by Patel. (The FBI director has denied the allegations and filed a defamation suit against The Atlantic and me.)

"Patel has distributed his self-branded bottles while on official business, including during at least one FBI event. He and his team have transported the whiskey using a DOJ plane, including when he went to Milan during the Olympics in February."
