The White House declared war on the American people today, labeling its political opponents as terrorists, including Left-wing extremists. The new label also claims that there are deepening alliances between the far-left and Islamists or pro-Palestinian protesters.
The language is contained in the White Houses newly released National Counterterrorism Strategy. It is the first National Strategy to be unveiled since 2021, when the Biden administration issued its document. The Strategy identifies the left-wing, anti-Fascists, Anarchists and radically pro-transgender ideologies as threats equivalent to jihadi groups like al Qaeda and ISIS, or narco-traffickers.
The Strategy is the brainchild of White House counterterrorism czar Sebastian Gorka, an eccentric figure I have reported on, who last year hinted at terrorism charges being levied for political opponents of the administration. The document makes clear he got his wish. Gorka called the Strategy my lifes work, and apparently waxed so poetic in previous drafts that his superiors told him (by his own account): Cut it down, Gorka!
Currently we face three major types of terror groups, the Strategy says, listing Narcoterrorists and Transnational Gangs, Legacy Islamist Terrorists, and Violent Left-Wing Extremists, including Anarchists and Anti-Fascists.

My oldest brother has an incredible gift: Hes capable of saying the most incendiary, inappropriate things at the perfect moment and somehow getting a laugh regardless of who hes in front of.
Im not quite sure how he does it. But Ive watched him perfect this art since I was a kid. It used to be most apparent with my parents, whod sometimes have trouble disciplining him because he could essentially shit-talk his way out of any situation and earn a laugh. As we got older, it felt like this talent elevated to a new tier, like hed beaten the mom is mad boss and moved onto can I get the priest to crack a smile in the middle of the funeral?
Ive been thinking about this skill a lot recently. This innate ability some people have to do something in a particular way that disarms everyone around them, and then the way some people try to replicate that behavior in the exact same context, with the exact same approach, and get disastrous results (I think, often, about trying some of the jokes Ive heard my brother make to my mom, knowing full well they would never quite land, though I cant say exactly why).
Anyway, in April, The New York Times broke the story that President Donald Trumps daughter and son-in-law are negotiating a luxury hotel with Syrian billionaires who are simultaneously lobbying the president to lift economic sanctions on their country. Ill write that sentence again just in case it didnt land the first time: President Donald Trumps children are negotiating a luxury hotel with Syrian billionaires who are simultaneously lobbying the president to lift economic sanctions on their country.
I cant explain why that story doesnt have quite the same punch as, According to The New York Times, Hunter Biden is negotiating a Biden-branded luxury hotel with Syrian billionaires; those Syrian billionaires are also lobbying President Joe Biden to lift economic sanctions on their country. Yet I know that, for some reason, the real story were living through right now the one where Trumps kids are funneling money directly to their family fortune while the U.S. government hands out favors in return just doesnt seem to get any traction with the public.

Heady from their anticipated victory in Dobbs, the Heritage Foundation and its partners in the anti-abortion movement gathered in June 2022 to hail Life After Roe.
The symposium was filled with high-minded pledges to support, protect and stand up for women in a new post-Roe era in which womens reproductive rights and health care would be greatly restricted. Though all of its 11 panelists were white, Roger Severino, a foundation vice president, summoned racial justice parallels, invoking Martin Luther King and likening Dobbs to Brown v. Board of Education, the 1954 decision striking down school segregation.
But Heritage president Kevin Roberts hinted at a broader project to come for his group and its powerful conservative alliesone that had little to do with gender or racial justice. He said Dobbs provided the conservative movement with an opportunity to repair so many related issues, among them the crisis of right-ordered masculinity and the crisis of femininity, rightly understood.
Elements of that campaign would be unveiled in its Project 2025 tract, which provided the Trump administration with a detailed playbook to attack all forms of reproductive care by weaponizing federal funding, most notably Medicaid; restricting the availability of treatment nationwide; spreading junk science and censoring evidence-based research; undermining patient privacy and safety; and criminalizing the exercise of individual rights.
This playbook, which the administration followed virtually to the letter, targeted the most vulnerable first: Young people, low-income earners who are disproportionately women of color; veterans, members of the military and their families. Health care providers of all types were targeted as well, the threat of funding losses looming so large that many over- and pre-complied with these unilateral and arbitrary edicts.

The U.S. government is insolvent. Thats not hyperbole its the conclusion drawn directly from the Treasury Departments own consolidated financial statements for fiscal year 2025, released last week to near-total media silence. The numbers: $6.06 trillion in total assets against $47.78 trillion in total liabilities as of September 30, 2025.
Importantly, the $47.78 trillion in reported liabilities does not include the unfunded obligations of social insurance programs like Social Security and Medicare those are disclosed separately in the off-balance-sheet Statement of Social Insurance (SOSI).
The governments consolidated balance sheet position, excluding the SOSI, deteriorated by nearly $2.07 trillion between FY 2024 and FY 2025, reaching a staggering negative $41.72 trillion. Total liabilities are now nearly eight times the value of reported assets. The largest drivers were a $2 trillion increase in federal debt and interest payable (now $30.33 trillion) and a $438.8 billion increase in federal employee and veteran benefits payable (now $15.47 trillion).
The Off-Balance-Sheet Iceberg
The off-balance-sheet picture is even more alarming. The 75-year unfunded social insurance obligation surged by $10.1 trillion in a single year, rising from $78.3 trillion in FY 2024 to $88.4 trillion in FY 2025 driven primarily by a $6.9 trillion jump in projected Medicare Part B shortfalls and a $2.5 trillion increase for Social Security. The Treasurys Statement of Long-Term Fiscal Projections shows the 75-year fiscal gap widening from 4.3% of GDP in FY 2024 to 4.7% in FY 2025.

This is embarrassing to admit, but I think I fell in with the right wing as an aesthetic choice initially, says Anna. For several years a celebrated pundit of the New Right a movement of young conservatives at war with the old GOP Establishment Anna has requested anonymity out of fear of retaliation. A religious Catholic, she had grown up the token liberal in her conservative town, owing, in part, to a durable contrarian streak. (Her father, she says, was a typical Fox News guy.) But during college in the mid-2010s, she was exposed to the overweening, haughty moralism of Peak Woke.
Im somebody, dispositionally, who likes to have a good time, she tells me. She found the humorlessness of the contemporary left more alienating than the conservatism of her youth.
She wasnt attracted to the right by the romanticized aesthetic of traditional America big beautiful houses and bread-making and families with half a dozen children. Rather, she says, I was in love with the frisson of transgression. The online right had begun to engage more explicitly with forbidden subjects: nativism, race science, and gender essentialism drawn from evolutionary psychology. There was an element of gnosticism to it, she says, the sense that you know secret things that other people dont know.
After college, in the waning years of Trumps first term, Anna wrote for popular right-wing outlets, worked for conservative institutions, and attended movement conferences. She fell in socially with the young firebrands of the New Right; she remembers it as partially happenstance. You kind of meet people and proceed on and then suddenly you find yourself being a part of this thing, she tells me. A portion of her early writing was about feminism and gender: I was doing the typical right-wing female thing where all these men will kind of pat you on your head for saying the edgy thing about women, as a woman and they need you to be their mouthpiece.
Her work tapped a rich vein of 2020s discourse: the notion that women are mentally disturbed. Theyre more crazy and upset and unwell than theyve ever been before, she recalls. And its because theyre not having babies, and its because theyre working too hard. In Annas essays, women were unhappy because they were tyrannized by choice and alienated from their God-given purpose. It was easy to see things this way for a time; she herself was lost and a little depressed. But gradually, over a few years, it became tiresome. Women, it seemed, were always to blame for the worlds problems.

On Sunday night, Just The News reported that the FBI is expanding its criminal probe into suspected election irregularities agents are receiving gigabytes of electronic election data from Maricopa County. Early the next morning, President Donald Trump shared the article on Truth Social and wrote: Great!!!
And that whacked the hornets nest. The New York Times, Washington Post, Politico, NPR, NBC, The Hill, MS NOW, and many local Arizona news outlets all had news stories up within a few hours.
The dust hasnt fully settled, but its settled enough to make a few things clear: Yes, federal law enforcement did issue a subpoena for 2020 election data. But that subpoena wasnt directed at Maricopa County election officials; it was issued to Arizona state Senate President Warren Petersen, who reported that he turned over the subpoenaed records. Petersen, a Republican, and the state Senate had possession of electronic data from Maricopa Countys November 2020 presidential election as a result of the monthslong review Petersen and then-Senate President Karen Fann commissioned in 2021.
We dont yet know why federal law enforcement sought the election materials. Theres been no word on who the investigation targets or what statute may have been violated. Nor has any judge or grand jury made a determination as to the possibility or probability of such a criminal action; such a determination is not needed to issue a subpoena.
This makes the Maricopa County situation quite different from that of Fulton County, Georgia, where the FBI seized more than 600 boxes of 2020 election materials in January. In that instance, federal law enforcement identified two statutes (Title 52 of the U.S. Code Sections 20701 and 20511) that had possibly been violated, and a federal magistrate judge found that law enforcement had established probable cause to obtain a warrant to seize documents (I believe the underlying affidavit in that warrant application was highly problematic).

Palantir CEO Alex Karp thinks his AI technology will lessen the power of highly educated, often female voters, who vote mostly Democrat while increasing the power of working-class men.
This technology disrupts humanities-trainedlargely Democraticvoters, and makes their economic power less. And increases the economic power of vocationally trained, working-class, often male, working-class voters, Karp said in a CNBC interview Thursday. And so these disruptions are gonna disrupt every aspect of our society. And to make this work, we have to come to an agreement of what it is were going to do with the technology; how are we gonna explain to people who are likely gonna have less good, and less interesting jobs.
This sounds like a direct, long-term pitch to the GOP from a CEO whose tech firm already has numerous government contracts and is deeply embedded in the Pentagon. Karps message is loud and clear: My technology will take political capital away from one of your greatest enemiesliberal women with degreesand give one of your favorite demographics to patronizeworking-class menmore political power to transfer to you. Hes aligning his technology with both GOP political strategy and the larger male-centered culture war that the right has been waging for the better part of a decade now. And how exactly would his technology only hurt Democrat women?
Karp also made a Patriot Actera argument, justifying his admittedly dangerous technology by claiming that Palantir will allow us to be American in the future.
These technologies are dangerous societally, Karp continued. The only justification you could possibly have would be that if we dont do it, our adversaries will do it. And we will be subject to their rule of law. Why is it that were absorbing the risk of disrupting the very fabric of our society, including the most powerful parts of our society, if its not because its about maintaining our ability to be American in the near term and long term?

Amid increasingly vocal intraparty dissension, President Donald Trump again called on Republicans to pass the SAVE America Act, at the expense of everything else, calling the bill a Country Defining fight for the Soul of our Nation!
As the MAGA base fractures over the decision to attack Iran, GOP Senators excoriate some cabinet officials in hearings, and House Republicans subpoena others, Trump and his allies appear increasingly desperate to pass the SAVE America Act. Trump again took to Truth Social Thursday to press his party to enact the bill, which would require voters to provide documentary proof of citizenship like a U.S. passport, birth certificate or naturalization papers when registering and show voter ID at the polls.
On X, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt reposted Trumps message along with an unnamed poll claiming broad support for the proposal. The White House X account also posted in support of the bill an apparent violation of federal ethics laws prohibiting the use of government offices for partisan lobbying.
Shortly thereafter, Trump posted again, this time seeming to suggest the SAVE America Act includes a number of provisions that are not in the proposal and mistakenly describing those that are. THE SAVE AMERICA ACT! 1. ALL VOTERS MUST SHOW VOTER I.D. (IDENTIFICATION!). 2. ALL VOTERS MUST SHOW PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP IN ORDER TO VOTE, Trump wrote.

Thousands of companies are jockeying for billions of dollars in Defense Department contracts to build a shield designed to intercept and destroy missiles launched against the United States.
But amid the intense competition, a handful of firms have an important inside connection.
At least four of the companies awarded contracts so far are owned by Cerberus Capital
Management, a private equity firm founded by billionaire Steve Feinberg, who until last year ran the company and is now the deputy secretary of defense the second-highest-ranking official in the Pentagon.
Feinberg oversees the office in charge of the Golden Dome for America project, which is modeled on Israels Iron Dome missile defense system.
Feinberg filed paperwork saying he divested from Cerberus and its related businesses. But his government ethics records contain an unusual clause: He is allowed to continue contracting with the company for tax compliance and accounting services as well as health care coverage, a financial relationship that documents show could continue indefinitely.

The main bet on the front page of Polymarket right now is Will the Iranian regime fall by June 30? The site has this at a 41 percent chance of happening as I write this.
On Polymarket, more than $5 million has been spent gambling on this question. On Kalshi, a competing prediction market where users can bet on almost anything, $54 million was spent on Ali Khamenei out as Supreme Leader?, a bet whose results somehow ended up ambiguous even after Khameneis assassination.
In a series of tweets over the weekend, Kalshis CEO and founder Tarek Mansour repeatedly twisted himself into pretzels attempting to explain how the absurd, grotesque exercise of allowing people to bet on politics, geopolitics, and world events is not supposed to allow people to profit from death.
We dont list markets directly tied to death. When there are markets where potential outcomes involve death, we design the rules to prevent people from profiting from death, he wrote. He then posted the underlying rules of the bet, which read If leaves solely because they have died, the associated market will resolve and the Exchange will determine the payouts to the holders of long and short positions based upon the last traded price (prior to the death).
That we are discussing the ins-and-outs of which random gamblers get paid out during an illegal war in which already hundreds of school children have been bombed to death feels like the type of grotesque sideshow that is only possible because the U.S. government is only interested in regulating its perceived political enemies, and which only feels possible because much of the American economy feels held together by cope and the gobs of money being thrown into AI, data centers, and gambling. All of this is part of the perverse Silicon Valley, AI, crypto, and X-adjacent hustlebro gambling economy, which was legalized by companies like DraftKings and FanDuel, who spent eyewatering sums lobbying states to allow their gambling apps, and has been legitimized by sports leagues who wanted to print money and media companies desperate for the advertising dollars that came from gambling and has turned this all into a massive industrial complex that is not-so-slowly bankrupting a generation of underemployed people addicted to gambling. Polymarket and Kalshi took the DraftKings and FanDuel model and let people bet on basically anything, so now you can bet on which countries Iran will launch missiles against on the same app you bet on the Nuggets/Jazz game or the winner of the Best Picture Academy Award. The new model is so good at parting people from their money that DraftKings and FanDuel themselves have been anxious to get into prediction markets.

With Iran War, Kalshi and Polymarket Bet That the Depravity Economy Has No Bottom
https://www.404media.co/with-iran-war-kalshi-and-polymarket-bet-that-the-depravity-economy-has-no-bottom/?ref=daily-stories-newsletterThe main bet on the front page of Polymarket right now is Will the Iranian regime fall by June 30?
