It's all done to boost profits and make more off the dialysis business.

I remember in the mid 80's hospital management was changing from doctors and nurses to mba's. The mantras were "If you can run a McDonald's, you can run a hospital", and "I'm going to show you how to do your jobs with fewer workers and less supplies, and enjoy it!"
We don't have a health care system in the US. We have a profit making system which produces as much profit as possible while producing as little health care as possible as a byproduct.
