that I know is on so many minds right
now what products will be impacted by
these tariffs exactly will this impact
the price of alcohol or watches or any
of our patriotic tree trimming equipment
i mean these tariffs are broad and for
some countries they're very very big
like China so think footwear think
clothing think all kinds of electronics
um the list is pretty long sporting
goods toys fruits and vegetables
furniture wine and spirits uh cell
phones you know the cars in particular
oh I thought this was going to be bad
you're telling me all Americans have to
be cool with is going shoeless pantsless
not watching TV not playing sports not
playing with toys not getting a new
phone not getting drunk and doing it all
while sitting on the ground and
apparently chugging ranch dressing for
sustenance we're going to be
fine but I guess it couldn't hurt to
know like your hip aunt popping Molly at
a rave for the first time when are we
going to start feeling the effects so
you can see why food prices would be
affected most quickly right especially
perishable food things that are coming
in on the borders and you can only keep
in a warehouse maybe for for 8 days or
10 days also we have steel and aluminum
tariffs that are already in effect and
that the aluminum is used in the cans
that other foods are are packaged in so
the packaging is an issue as well also
paper packaging when you've got all of
these tariffs against Canadian goods
coming into effect that could in fact
raise the price of packaging so the
experts I'm talking to are saying it
would be coming weeks likely but if
you're talking about perishable items it
might be more quickly well at least we
won't have to wait too long right isn't
that the worst part of an impending
disaster that it takes too long to
happen this administration has
essentially hit the skip intro button on
everybody's favorite new series America:
The Final Season which is actually the
second title chosen because the first
one was taken what about drug prices
yeah i mean if we can't have alcohol we
got to have something to numb the pain
right half of the drugs consumed in the
US are not produced here i think 80% of
the ingredients to make the drugs are
not produced here so this is a really
sticky area for the White House they did
not include pharmaceuticals in this
first big round of tariffs but the
president yesterday teased that
pharmaceuticals and semiconductors are
on the way that's right president wanted
to hold off on pharmaceuticals to give
everyone something to look forward to
remember it's not just the worst
voluntary economic disaster in US
history it's the worst economic
voluntary disaster in US history so far
but look there is no denying that this
is going to be a tough road ahead for
most Americans unless of course we're
all just thinking about this the wrong
way this has been going on for 20 years
china entered the WTO back in
2001 we've all we've spent a lot of
years getting cheap stuff that is likely
going to end at least for now iphones
are going to be $2,300 that's the
reality and then look when you've got
that's why a lot of the market is
selling off because they're realizing
that the global supply chain is about to
be completely upended it is because of
China i've always said we enabled China
as a nation and I'm going back 20 years
i'm not talking about right now so the
fight against China that Donald Trump
has brought to the table has been
successful and needed to happen in his
first term tariffs against China were
successful they weren't this extreme and
then you had Joe Biden who didn't
enforce what was supposed to be
happening china was supposed to be
buying American agricultural products
you know what they did not and he didn't
enforce it so they've had four years of
a break and now that break is over for
China you know the uncertainty in the in
the in the stock market it it it isn't
necessarily a negative it can be an
indication that things are going to work
out it's just that things are they're
uncertain right now and you got a
president who's swinging for the fences
this is what's brilliant about what
President Trump is up to he's put other
countries on notice you're not going to
take advantage of us anymore now I'm
only in my 40s i know I look a lot
younger but I've never seen a president
stand up to Wall Street have you trump
just stared the market right in the face
while it sold off
4% it's like sending your screwed up son
to a military academy you know it's
going to hurt him at first and he's not
going to like it and it's going to be
painful but in the long run it's going
to make him a man the right thing to do

to war with China you want to become
China but look I actually think there's
a very reasonable explanation for all of
this we know Trump is a competitive guy
