During a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing earlier this month, Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) claimed the Pentagon had $2.5 trillion missing. - 03/28/2026.

1. The Pentagon has never passed an audit. Donald Rumsfeld on 9/10/01 talked about

$2.3 trillion unaccounted for in the Pentagon budget. A day later he had other priorities. (This is not to laud Rumseld, but to support Moskowitz’s point.)
