'Critical thinking is the kryptonite to fascism': Kimberle Crenshaw on the Trump's erasure policies - Velshi - MSNBC

Donald Trump has issued a directive to remove so-called “improper ideology” from all Smithsonian museums, including the National Museum of African American History and Culture. Executive director of the African American Policy Forum Kimberle Crenshaw worries that this is a part of the president’s attempt to whitewash and reframe American history.

“The road to authoritarianism is paved with the creation of a mythic past,” says Crenshaw. “This isn’t about color blindness, this isn’t about anti-division,” instead it “makes it that much harder for people to understand the country we live in, the risk that we’re facing and what we all have to do to protect the democracy we spilt blood in order to secure.” - Aired on 05/03/2025.
