Trump panics at the prospect of Republicans turning against him over abysmal poll numbers - Rachel Maddow - MSNBC

Rachel Maddow points out Donald Trump's disproportionate reaction to the possibility that Senate Republicans will vote for a bill that would take away Trump's ability to arbitrarily set tariffs, and shares her expectation that in the next 100 days, Trump will try to change course from his failed policies with increasingly dramatic and extreme stunts. - Aired on 04/28/2025.

1. I just don't think he's panicking.

It no longer matters if the entire country hates him. He’s going to continue to turn our country over to Putin because of his loyalty and his grudges.

2. You're probably right, despite all his crimes and two impeachments, no one's stopped him yet

But he will only succeed if we let him. Time, however, is running out for a peaceful turnaround. Our families fought fascism before, if we have to do it again, so be it.

He seems unstoppable, going from one terrible action to even worse ones. I’m glad we’re protesting, but will it halt this horrible slide into autocracy? Will the militarized police be at the next protests to shut them down? I respect Rachel’s perspective and pray she’s right.

5. Good Grief, same here! Whoever imagined that this country would elect a POTUS who's guilty of crimes??

And would actively try to dissolve the government?? Wasn't January 6th enough of a preview??

But I agree that Rachel knows what she's talking about, she's as smart as they come and knows more than I ever will. I know it's exhausting, but I wish she would keep on. Jen Psaki is really good, too, but I'll sure miss the reassurance of Rachel. And things are so bad after 3 months, I can't see things continue to escalate for 4 long years. And we've seen the protest turnouts in every city and town, Rachel shows a variety every single night, we're an overwhelming majority and more are joining us every single day.

7. It is important the Maddow showed these protests and we can only hope that Psaki will continue.

She’s the gold standard, the best news pundit on tv. I get a lot out of watching her and even more after you post the highlights, as sometimes it helps to hear it twice to get the full impact of the story. Thank you for all your posts!

I'm sure it must be stressful, but Rachel really is the best and always digs into current news and gets the truth out there. Looks like she's going to be still with us through tomorrow and on Mondays after that. I'm going to really miss her too.
