Russia Ukraine: will Trump's peace plan just lead to more war? Timothy Snyder

In this new world of strong man politics, has Ukraine been bullied and Russia indulged? And what does all this tell us about Trump's new world order?

In this episode of the Fourcast, Krishnan Guru-Murthy is joined by the American historian and writer Professor Timothy Snyder, who's an expert on Ukraine, Russia and eastern Europe, having written highly acclaimed books on tyranny and freedom.

I really like how Timothy Snyder describes Trump's goal to reduce the energy of the free world to therefore achieve autocratic power. And how reducing law and order "energy" inevitably makes a country or alliance weaker, as opposed to the mistaken idea that moving to strongman rule (autocracy) makes a country stronger. I hadn't seen the freedom vs. oligarchy conversation presented in those terms before, and I found it helpful.

I don't do his conversation justice, so you should just watch it if you have a chance.

Ukraine, and Europe. Probably, more African and South American countries later.

Minor wars but not dictatorships like we have.
