Iowa women's basketball star notches WNBA career points milestone
It hasn't been the smoothest ride in the WNBA for Megan Gustafson, but the former Iowa center has made a nice career for herself.
Gustafson was a prolific scorer for the Hawkeyes, ending her career as the program's all-time leading scorer with 2,804 career points. Caitlin Clark would pass that mark a few years later, but Gustafson's legacy in Iowa City was already set.
Following her time at Iowa, Gustafson started her WNBA journey. She was taken in the second round of the 2019 draft by the Dallas Wings, where she spent two seasons. Over the next five years, she would bounce around from Washington to Phoenix and eventually Las Vegas, where she played a key bench role on the Aces' 2025 WNBA championship team
This past offseason, Gustafson parlayed that success in Las Vegas to a two-year deal with one of the league's newest teams, the Portland Fire. On Friday night, in the Fire's home loss to the Atlanta Dream, Gustafson eclipsed a marquee scoring milestone. She scored the 800th point of her WNBA career.
