Related: About this forumMy Dad collected movie posters from the theater. Here's one.

He also painted portraits of movie stars.
I don't have the dates, but they are really old.
A Charles Laughton in there? I'll post when I find it.
FOUND IT.

(26,834 posts)I just snapped these two with an iPhoneSE3 (no need to open the camera bags) and did my usual very minimal processing with the mac Preview app.
For these old prints, I took the color up a little (I hate garish color) just enough to convey what the artist intended.
I would take out the dust and dirt spots with the free GIMP program.

(14,072 posts)They look in good condition. When they have this type of art on Roadshow they usually turn out to be worth a couple hundred.
Should frame them and make a wall of them.

(26,834 posts)Next to Dad's paintings. I'll get some from my brother shortly.
And my photos, as well.
My daughter and son-in-law get great diving photos.
So, I definitely look forward to a home gallery.
When I move. But that's another story.

(10,960 posts)and I'm thinking "That's not Gary Cooper".
So I went to the imdb.com for the movie and found this image, where it says this is Robert Young.

I see Young Robert (sic) in the black and white.
I plead ignorance on these. The black and white looks like a great photo, Others are very sharp,
I have to wonder if they are black and white photos that have been colorized, since they have the "airbrush" look to them.'
And to print, they have to be halftoned anyhow.
My Dad's movie star paintings are not so subtle. They use bold color by comparison.
Now, a mystery.
MORE. Young and Cooper are stars in it.

(26,834 posts)I grew up in New England. Now there's the place.
In our optical engineering department, there was one guy who swore he made more selling blanket chests and so on, on weekends, than as an optical engineer during the work week.
He also familiarized us with the "last one holding the bag" theory of antiques.
Thanks for the positive thought, though.

I think its strange how antiques lose value based on taste. Youd think anything old just appreciates in value automatically. And then, kids these days arent as eager to inherit junk from previous generations. At least what Ive seen from nieces and nephews. If thats really the case the demand for antiques may plateau. But who knows. Just spitballing.
