"Israeli army confirms it'll keep occupying 5 hills in south Lebanon"
This is the headline from an article from the Lebanese news site "Naharnet" dated 02/17/25. As predicted by many the IDF isn't going to comply with their previously agreed extension date for complete withdrawal which was 02/18/25.
The Lebanese leader Auon says he is demanding complete withdrawal but it is a hollow demand since everybody knows he will not have the Lebanese forces confront the IDF. The toothless onlookers known as the "monitoring mechanism" of the US and France will also do nothing. So too are the aspects of Hezbollah and their compliance an uncertainty with no accountability.
So it is, as predicted, that written agreements among any of these parties are fairly meaningless and when they are announced with dates for things to happen and certain actions to be taken it is really meaningless "feel good" fodder for public consumption. The actual negotiation of what really happens comes after the agreement is signed. Treaties written on Charmin and interchangeable for use. But it goes to show what I was saying shortly after 10/7 about the entire region. Nobody's word is any good about anything. That includes the countries in the Middle East, the Western Nations and the UN.
A roll of Charmin in fact at least has the integrity that it will do what it purports to do.
On a related note about Lebanon, Crumb The 1st must have discovered some Lebanese assets he wants since he now has announced an end to aid for Lebanon until he sees "achievements" according to a Naharnet report dated 02/17/25 quoting Al-Arabiya TV. International extortion continues apace with a US official quoted relaying a statement from Crumb The 1st "Washington will not distribute funds if the American people don’t get anything in return". I think any rational person knows he doesn't mean the "people" writ large but rather a wealthy few. Some call it all "peace and freedom for all the people". Most of us know we will be left with less than Charmin.
