Aslesen, Olson take out petitions to seek re-election to Mitchell Board of Education

MITCHELL — Terry Aslesen and Deb Olson have taken out nominating petitions to seek re-election to their current positions on the Mitchell Board of Education.

Theresa Kriese, business manager for the Mitchell School District, said both took out a petition Monday. The seats held by both Aslesen and Olson are the two seats on the five-person board to be up for election in 2025.

Nominating petitions for a seat on the board can be taken out at the Mitchell School District business office. The petitions are due back in the office by 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 25. If necessary, the board of education election is scheduled to be held June 3.

Kriese noted to run for the Mitchell Board of Education, the nominee must live within the boundaries of the Mitchell School District. This includes the city of Mitchell as well as some of the surrounding area. A map of the Mitchell School District can be found on the South Dakota Department of Education website.
