I'm invited to a very nice Christmas dinner with very nice people whom I like a lot. I'm supposed to be there by 4:00.
I don't want to get dressed, drive over there, and mingle.
I want to stay here and chill.
It's quiet. I have food and beverage.
It's my day off after working 10 hours on Monday and 8 hours yesterday.
I'll probably go, but my heart's not in it.

(133,101 posts)for next year when you might really appreciate the invite. You don't know. Things could change. We all evolve. I'm staying away from non family at this time in my life but I am grateful for the time in my life when I did suck it up and go out with friends even when I was too shy to. It was only a few years but it was worth it and I have happy memories of my twenties.
Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
