A way to remember loved ones
My daughter had a boyfriend who died in 1995. The Internet was new then, but one of the cool things we learned about was a star registry site. You could name a star after a loved one. My husband and I named one for the young man, who probably would've been our son-in-law.
A couple of years ago, I thought of it again, and named one for my oldest grandchild for a Christmas present. I'll do that this year for the younger one. You get a map of the location of the star and a certificate. Even if there's nothing official about it, It's a romantic idea. I gave the documents to our daughter and our grandchild.
It is one of those things that I do and don't remember. But it came up in conversation yesterday. We have not yet had a memorial for my friend. My daughters have offered to plan something, so my friend's sister doesn't have to do it. In the meantime, I think a star will help me get along. Since the idea is in my head, I'll name one for my husband. I'll tell my daughter, who recently lost her mother-in-law, in case she'd like to name a star or help me with that one.
I'm mentioning it, because it's made me feel happier than I have felt for awhile. Maybe someone else will get a lift because of the idea
You can find a couple of sites online. I don't want to break DU rules about advertising a business. I've used the same site, which has an .org address both times I named a star.
