RIP Archbishop Kucera

The Dubuque Archbishop who confirmed me has passed at the age of 94.

--------------------------------------QUOTE--------------------------------------

A former leader of the Catholic Church’ Dubuque diocese has died. Archbishop-emeritus Daniel Kucera passed away this morning at the age of 94. He had most recently been residing at the Stonehill Care Center here in Dubuque. A Chicago native, Kucera became the Archbishop of Dubuque in February of 1984 and served until his retirement in October of 1995. His death comes just a couple of days after the 68th anniversary of when Kucera took his vows to become a priest.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.

Tell me more...
