Has anyone been to Sri Lanka?

I'm going in a few weeks for my nephew's wedding. All I really know about it is tea and great food. It's not really somewhere I would have gone if not for the wedding, so does anyone have tips or suggestions for things to do there? I don't want to just stick to Colombo and not see the rest of the country

I looked at a map of Sri Lanka and thought it wouldn't take long to drive around, but was told by my nephews fiancee that while distances are far less than what we're used to in Australia, there's way much more traffic and it takes.ages to get places.

4. I did it yesterday and it was amazing!

I've never been on a train where the only a/C is windows and foreigners get a separate observation carriage that was nothing like the Rockies one. It was an incredible trip and I wish I could post photos here coz I took so many.

I'm in Yala tonight and heading off to an early morning safari tomorrow. While I hate the humidity, Sri Lanka is such a beautiful country.
