(1,455 posts)The Standard Motor Company Limited was a motor vehicle manufacturer, founded in Coventry, England, in 1903 by Reginald Walter Maudslay. For many years, it manufactured Ferguson TE20 tractors powered by its Vanguard engine. All Standard's tractor assets were sold to Massey Ferguson in 1959. Standard purchased Triumph in 1945 and in 1959 officially changed its name to Standard-Triumph International and began to put the Triumph brand name on all its products. A new subsidiary took the name The Standard Motor Company Limited and took over the manufacture of the group's products.[1]
The Standard name was last used in Britain in 1963, and in India in 1988.

It has a resemblance to two models from the mid 1930s. Neither had the boat tail.
An aside Triumph was founded by a German from Nurnberg as a bike company.

(32,287 posts)I grew up in the TD. My dad had one -- black with red interior.
Took my drivers' license on a 1970 Opel.

This replica should be a good running machine with the Toyota drive train. Might have the newer suspension for the front also.
