I'll be honest: I only came to appreciate Nadal later in his career because I was/am a huge Federer fan and their rivalry was so intense that rooting for Rafa seemed like a betrayal. But my god how can you not appreciate his tenacity, his mental toughness, his athleticism? I like that he and Roger aren't straying from the sport the way so many retired athletes do and is instead committed to continue building the sport for all the younger players.

for never forgetting his own background. I remember watching him helping his community after horrific floods.
Agree re ThecFed and Rafa staying with the sport.
I often think the rivalries are promoted more by media than the best athlete.
