(6,269 posts)get such a low score? Ooops I forgot...this is america the beautiful, land of the free home of the brave, racist insurrectionist intent on putting Ms. Biles back into slavery. No doubt in my mind a judge or two believes that is where Ms. Biles belongs...

(6,269 posts)but I also know that move, the vault is a very difficult vault. But yes Ms. Biles is in the first place. It's just I feel politics has totally poisoned too many minds for trust to be automatic. My problem.

(13,538 posts)They didnt rate it as high on the difficulty scale as it should have been, so the score was lower than it could've been.
Their excuse was that they were afraid of injuries to OTHER gymnasts who may want to try it!

(12,173 posts)It doesn't even look possible...yet, there it is. Her legs must have similar power to a hydraulic press, except explosive.

(12,173 posts)a swimmer. I did lifeguard training for several years and was invited on to the most prestigious youth swim team in Vancouver, but declined. The point being, I wasn't doughy and soft.
My wife, however was an ATHLETE when she was young. Was a sprinter and long jumper in high school...at the grand height of 5-foot nothing. Competed with the boys. Years later, did kick boxing and weightlifting. Held the county record for women's military press. The point being, she was and is strong.
When we first got together, we were lying face-to-face and talking. Reminder...5' O". I'm 6' and was about 210 at the time. She got this devilish little grin on her face, put her top foot behind my knees and SPUN me. I was almost shocked.
So, yeah....a woman's legs (or any part of her, really) can have a lot of power.

(8,009 posts)It has to be 7 or 8 feet which would exceed the men's high jump world record. I must be wrong but it looks incredibly high!
Go Simone!

(25,979 posts)Than seeing her lunge forward in super slow-motion during that opening couple of seconds of the video. I feel like I've accomplished that a few times in my life. The rest? I wouldn't even attempt it!!

(26,198 posts)they were afraid while she is such a superior athlete currently, too many others would injure themselves trying to do the same routine?
Something I thought I heard on the radio in the last ? 2 weeks or so.
Amazing! Love gymnastics.
