Writing
Related: About this forumShopping agreement
I just signed a shopping agreement with a Hollywood screenwriter/producer for my Sherlock Holmes novel. He'll write a script and shop it around to studios. I'm battlescarred enough not to get my hopes up, but nonetheless this gives me a pleasant feeling.

(119 posts)You finished the book and that is an excellent accomplishment on it's own. Good luck with what comes next.

(20,684 posts)Actually, I finished that book and it was published decades ago. It got good reviews and moderate sales and then vanished, as most books do. Having it come back to life even to this degree after all this time is delightful. (I got the rights back and reissued it myself a few years ago, and that edition sells moderately, too, so it didn't quite vanish.)

(20,684 posts)I thought they were usually for a year, but in this case, there's the time to write the script, and the wait for the writer's strike to end. And it's the only interest I've had in one of my books in quite a few years, so I'm okay with it.
