the gingerbread house
once again a trail of breadcrumbs leads to my door
wicked children spreading hate lies and accusations
the smoke from the hearth comes not from any gore
poor ash bread to barely sate my dreary expectations
their laughter and shouting echo through the woods
playing games of adventure hunting and animal fear
guardian angels now floating the evils and the goods
with no morals that censure the actions which appear
in the distance as axes ring out adult voices call loud
much nearer now than before a short turn out of sight
i shiver at the hymns they sing of heaven over a cloud
as the devils and gods implore certain death to a blight
the children calling the elders come see what they see
feeding my soul to the smelters while hearing their glee
