where did the tears come from
where did the tears come from
suddenly to be overwhelmed in tears dripping down
as to have lost all control upon hearing a single song
a lost ship adrift unhelmed a crew waiting to drown
alone with no one to console and nowhere to belong
a heart paused mid beat a breath cannot be grasped
in the back of the mind rational thought is being lost
ashamed of a stinging heat on a face feeling slashed
only to awaken and find as reality will not be crossed
the tears stop as they started without a knowing why
whether to let them dry slowly or wipe them all away
so to sit still and disheartened and afraid again to cry
reaching for relics of the holy all hidden from display
minutes and hours passing events have been forgotten
with a tinge of memory lasting amidst the misbegotten
