the war is over and all of the warriors have returned
souls unscratched unharmed unscathed and unaware
yet deep in the mind the lie is at work there is peace
in that everything is as it should be and as it once was
the war is over and all the widows are whole at home
the scars unseen the hurt dispelled the rape forgotten
children and mothers gaunt and hard hold a time back
where the emotions lie buried amidst hopes or dreams
the war is over and all of the speeches are being made
strong words with strong sounds from the strong voices
they echo and repeat and return are written in history
to be read and memorized by all the future generations
the war is over as memories have already begun to fade
the ghosts still haunt but are ignored until the next war
