Confusion in the Morning
Headlines…so many confusing headlines
Developments overnight
Insane pronouncements
By leaders in social media
All meant to obscure the truth
That all is being taken from us
Behind our backs
Without our consent
Because we are powerless
And too optimistic
To see the truth
That those above
Want to destroy those below
And steal all they have
No matter how little
Every crumb of bread
To the storehouses of the corrupt
Every tiny coin
To the accounts of the billionaires
Leaving nothing behind
But dust
Rags
Rage
How can I make sense of this?
As I rub my eyes every morning
Rising up from the bed
Knowing the day will be worse than the last
Where is the hope that things can be better
That the greedy will fall
And we will finally succeed
In our own daily lives?
Maybe the answer is to never awaken
They can’t punish me in permanent sleep
My death is their goal, I fear
