Birthday cake mishap

Both my husband and my mother have their birthdays this coming week (his today and Mom next Friday), and both are mildly adult-onset diabetic, so I was planning to bake a cake this afternoon that they can share between them. German chocolate is their favorite, so I bought the mix and a tub of frosting this afternoon.

Upon preparing to mix it up, I accidentally grabbed the wrong box of cake mix and realized it too late, so instead of a German chocolate cake they're getting a devil's food cake with coconut pecan frosting.

My more literate friends can call it The Faustian Bargain.
My Southern friends can call it The Devil Went Down to Georgia. 😜

She had everything in the mixing bowl, and it caught my attention when I heard the high-pitched whine of the electric mixer revving at top rpm. I shouted "STOP!", just as she let the mixer drop into the bowl.
The bowl was IMMEDIATELY empty. Cake ingredients covered the ceiling, walls, and the two of us. She had a shocked look on her cake-stuff splattered face. Then she started laughing.
It has become one of our favorite family stories.
