Questions for Fed govt retirees,

relatives, annuitants, and others in the know:

Have recently become widow of a newly retired Fed employee, and beginning to think about figuring out what happens when. We were separated few years ago, and I don't know what he did as far as formalizing his wishes, some of which he mentioned to me. Will go into his papers 'shortly,' but would appreciate info from y'all.

FORTUNATELY he JUST decided and formalized me as beneficiary of survivor pension including FEHBP. Am wondering what it takes to 'perfect' that, that is, to see to it that it comes to me, and how quickly that can occur. AND, as I maintain our plan, may I keep it as 'family' plan (to include our daughter, who is about to turn 25, and thus entitled to remain covered for another year under the new law!)

Don't know whether he designated beneficiary(ies) for TSP, and wonder how to 'perfect' that, too. Same with Life Insurance, and what the payout would be. Determined by income?

More questions later I'm sure, and will meet with my attorney shortly, but thought I'd run these by y'all.

Thanks
