Related: About this forumAuto extended warranty and roadside assistance
I always took pride in being able to do things like tire changes, I find that I have the knowledge but lack the strength. Modern cars are increasingly complex and batteries fail without warning.
I went to a site for reviews that required my phone and email info. I was immediately bombed by phone, texts and emails. That angers me no end.
I should've come here first.
Anyone have experiences good or bad.

My impression has always been that extended warranties are not a good idea, but I have an open mind.

(47,350 posts)Roadside assistance via your insurance company is only about $2-$3 more a month.
Instead of a extended warranty, find a trustworthy mechanic and set aside a few bucks every month for when you have an inevitable breakdown.

(11,142 posts)I got a version of this HALO Bolt 58830 mWh Portable Phone Laptop Charger Car Jump Starter with AC Outlet and Car Charger,Usb - Silver Graphite (1267118) and as inept as I am, I was able to jump start my car by myself the last time I had a dead battery. They also make them with air compressors for flat tires.

(3,316 posts)If you use your roadside from your car insurance, they may jack up your rates or threaten to cancel you.
So, it was cheaper to have state farm than AAA, until we used it a couple of times and they said that made us high risk and increased home and auto policies by over 70%.
No longer with state farm and went back to AAA.

(7,228 posts)I can only remember using it two times. Once when I locked myself out and the other was a dead battery. They were very timely both times as I recall.
