How cool that must have been, all the optimism for the future.

I remember being impressed by the structures that remain when I first moved to the city from California.

with some activists who described how civil rights and labor activists used the occasion of the '64' Fair to bring attention.

1964! Went to England with Experiment for International Living, which was only 1 semester, but I 'refused' to return home, so stayed, willy-nilly, until June, 'based' in Nottingham, and traveled in Britain and the continent. A life-sculpting time.
