My mother had stories about how she and her girlfriends during WWII would flirt with POWs and pass them food through the fence at an internment camp in Detroit.

(37,773 posts)2. They were fed the same food, in quantity and quality, as US soldiers. This was according
to the Geneva Convention. They were also paid the same rate as US soldiers, on average about 80 cents per day. They could use that money to buy snacks etc at the Camp's equivalent of a PX. And
in some camps, the prisoners also ran there own bakeries.
