There was low growling and swatting. I'm not sure who was growling but Arthur was the swatter. Then what ever the problem was, it was settled.
Carys has been out in the open for most of the past 2 days. I did have to serve her dinner beneath the chair but now she's back out with us.

Hmmmm, Arthur seems to be looking down, avoiding eye contact.

(27,543 posts)She spends a lot of time either on that perch, or somewhere not too far from me. Occasionally she ambles over and meows for me to give her pets and scritches.
I just wish she'd let herself be seen when other people are here. I'm going to be seeing my nephew and great-niece, for the first time in 6 years, this week. She is 8 and LOVES cats. No doubt the boys will make an impressive appearance.
She did come out of hiding last year when my best friend was here. She's a big time cat mom, too. Maybe Carys could sense those vibes. She didn't get close but she sat out in plain view for quite a while.

My speculation is that this could be the part where Carys has had enough of hiding and has confronted the source of her timidity... Arthur, ruler of the roost. I wonder if their not having a happy relationship is the reason she's been hiding all this time.
Perhaps her showing that she is not under Arthur's rule and that she might also be an alpha is what is happening. I suspect she'll be out among you more from now on. Might be more objections from Arthur but she's obviously not having it. The look and body language are very telling in animal behavior when it comes to competing alphas.
Hopefully Carys will be more available now.
