Related: About this forumI'm worried my new neighbor won't like Tiger climbing up the pole of their deck
They just moved in the apartment downstairs and I noticed theres some deck furniture. The last guy never used his deck so Im worried. I cant afford to move and I really really dont want to, and I would be really depressed if they made me take down my hummingbird feeders. So I could use some help worrying, thank you.

(10,459 posts)yourself, and explain the situation. If you are too shy to go knock on their door, sneak over there with a doorknob gift (a nice dishtowel, an candle, a bag of cookies) with a card that explains the situation. Don't be a stranger. Welcome your neighbors!

(854 posts)I live in suburbia. I have just jotted our names and phone number on an index card, knocked on the door and introduced myself. I mumble something like "call me if you need a neighbor" and hand them the card. I think over the last year, our 1 year neighbors borrowed a snow shovel for the first snow since they had just moved from California and hadn't gotten one yet. Other than that, we just wave. So, go ahead and break the ice.
