get on the counter while I am working on food there, she will get a treat from whatever I am preparing if it is something a cat would eat, or a cat treat if it's not.

Took a LONG time to get her to this point. There were many times when I had to use the spray bottle or close her in the bathroom. But once she had the patience to wait and then got a treat, she caught on.
