Related: About this forumI'm not normally a huge fan of people buying pets for their kids for Christmas
But, I am taking a chance and hoping this turns out well.
Last August my daughter's 17-yo cat passed away. https://www.democraticunderground.com/116169255
My daughter is 27 and currently living at home. I know she is still grieving, but it has been four months and I couldn't think of anything better to get her for Christmas.
There were two options: A very scared 1-year-old who had recently had kittens, or a very friendly 2-year-old that I felt certain would find a home quickly. I chose the scared 1-year-old.
I'll let you all know how it goes in a few days.
P.S. We will not be traumatizing this kitty by packing her in a box and opening her up in the living room. We'll just lead my daughter to the master bathroom which will have a bow on the door.

(234,297 posts)And it's not like your daughter is a little kid who will be overwhelmed by Christmas - you know exactly what she needs right now and kudos on giving this deserving kitty an owner who needs her as much as she needs a deserving and experienced owner! May they have many wonderful years together!

(11,548 posts)I think you made the right choice by adopting the one that may be looked over due to her being afraid. She will come out of that, she's young. She just has to realize nobody is ever going to hurt her again. She sounds like the perfect gift for your daughter.

(2,508 posts)The rescue only lets kittens less than 6 months old go in pairs. But this cat was a transfer from a different part of the state, so her kittens may be far away.
