(25,258 posts)narrated by Alan Alda which showed chimps being tested on how they act in various situations. When they failed to respond to pointing, dogs were shown to respond. Alda mentioned that cats also respond to pointing.
The cat that I had at the time would always respond when I pointed to something on the floor with my foot, but rarely when I pointed with my finger. My current cat often, but not always responds to finger pointing. But, like my previous cat, she does respond every time to pointing with my foot.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
