Related: About this forumMerlin seems to finally be transitioning out of kittenhood
He went from a little fur baby who loved to snuggle up against my neck, to a VERY aggressively playful toddler. I couldn't walk down the hallway without him pouncing and grabbing me with EVERY claw engaged and then start chomping.
Now he's still very playful but has cut back on the aggression. He still likes to latch on to my leg but with claws withdrawn. He still likes to chomp on my arm but he isn't really using his teeth as meat tenderizers. And now he's back to curling up on me with his head nestled beneath my chin and purring. Most mornings he wakes me up with a nuzzle.
There's a floor length mirror in the hallway. He doesn't attack his reflection but he does stretch out and admire himself.
I'm thankful every day that I found him when I did.

(855 posts)And we're happy for both of you. He's going to be a magnificent adult.
Have you found that rescues seem to hang onto kitten- or puppy-hood a bit longer? Even Audrey, rescued as an adult, and Autumn, rescued at nearly 6 months, spent time getting used to their new life and then sudden regressed into the babies that they should have had a chance to be. It was funny to see a large-ish chow dog romping like an 8-week-old, if only for a few weeks. And Audrey still has sudden bouts of making up for what she must have missed.
I love Merlin's self-admiration. He has good taste. But then, after all, he found you.
