So, we are packing up about to leave for 10 days. We have a cat sitter that will come everyday to take care of them and play with them. The cats have known her for years.



Somehow, they know we are about to go on a trip. Dickens, the black cat has been sleeping on top of my wife's duffel bag for the past two days, no matter where its located in the house.

1. My previous cat, Boots, always knew when I was going on a trip.

As soon as she saw me haul out my luggage, she would disappear because she knew she was going in the carrier to be taken either to my mother's house or the cat hotel. She loved going to my mother's house (who doesn't like going to Gramma's?); the cat hotel, not so much.

Come to think of it, she would disappear as soon as she saw me pile my clothes on the bed, just like in your picture! She was such a smart cat.

2. Have you explained to them where you are going, and when you will be

back? And are you reassuring them that you love them and will miss them?

I do this for my little lap panther every time I leave the house. He gets very upset if I don't.
